Montrezl Harrell signs 2-year deal with Sixers

According to a report from ESPN, former Kia Sixth Man of the Year Montrezl Harrell has signed to a two-year contract with the Philadelphia 76ers. The rumored contract has a player option for the second season and is worth $5.2 million over two years. Over 71 games with the Wizards and Hornets in the previous season, the 28-year-old center averaged 13.1 points and 6.1 rebounds.

Harrell spent three seasons with the LA Clippers between 2017 and 20 playing for Doc Rivers, the Sixers’ head coach. With career-high averages of 18.6 ppg and 7.1 rpg, he won the Sixth Man of the Year award for the 2019–20 season. After securing the No. 4 seed in the regular season with a 51-31 record, the Sixers were defeated by the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference playoffs. Although the deal’s specifics haven’t been made public yet, a $5.2 million contract is a significant sum for the 28-year-old athlete.
