BAU SuperMassive left little doubt that they were the best team in Group B on Sunday. After winning all three of their matches on Friday, they were at the top of their group and in a great position to advance. They were able to do just that in very dominating fashion.

Coming into the first play-in stage of MSI, BetDSI listed SuperMassive as a sizable favorite to win the group. Turkish champions have performed very well against regions outside the power five, and this team may be the most talented TCL team ever. They lived up to that expectation and then some with their play over the span of two days.

On Friday, SuperMassive bulldozed over Pentagram and KaBuM! eSports. They had a little more trouble with Dire Wolves, but they were able to turn things on in the mid game to finish the day 3-0.

Today was a bit more of a struggle, at least in the early going. Despite being 0-3, Pentagram was able to hang close with the Turkish champions through the early and mid game. However, a sneaky Baron take at the 28-minute mark started a snowball that the Japanese champs couldn’t stop. The match ended shortly after the Baron buff had expired and put SuperMassive one win away from topping the group.

In the next match, top laner FabFabulous carried the day. His Gangplank destroyed Chippys’ Irelia in the laning phase, rendering the champion almost powerless. With the help of a strong bottom lane, SuperMassive was able to rotate and apply pressure to all three lanes. That gave them an immense amount of control, which they were eventually able to turn into a victory.

The win gave them the group, so they decided to have a little fun in the last match.

Neither SuperMassive or KaBuM took the match seriously, and both teams instead decided to focus on giving the spectators an action packed game. The match ended up being a total bloodbath, and these two teams combined to smash the record for kills in one match at MSI. When it was all said and done, KaBuM had won and there were a combined 74 kills.

SuperMassive will take on either EVOS Esports or Flash Wolves with a place in the main event on the line.
