The much-anticipated returns of Jamal Murray, Kawhi Leonard, and Ben Simmons

Ben Simmons dunks the ball after catching it in transition after sprinting past the defense. A Brooklyn Nets teammate received his cross-court pass and made a 3-pointer a minute or so later. The Philadelphia 76ers have seen plays like that many times before. Simmons made them for a different club on Monday.

In his first NBA contest since June 2021, Simmons faced up against his former team, joining a host of other notable players in returning to the court. Simmons added, “I’m grateful simply to be able to tread on that court again. So, I had a great time there.”

The Los Angeles Clippers’ Kawhi Leonard and the Denver Nuggets’ Jamal Murray both made their seasons debuts after missing the previous one while recovering from ACL reconstruction procedures. When the Clippers and Trail Blazers faced each other in a preseason game on Monday, they all participated, along with Damian Lillard, who was back for Portland after missing the final 47 games of the season.
