NASCAR Odds:  Jeff Gordon, Brad Keselowski and Kevin Harvick are co-favorites to win the MyAFibStory.com 400 on Sunday on ESPN.  This race is the first in the Chase which has a new format this season.  In every three races there will be four drivers eliminated with the final four remaining drivers going for the championship at Homestead in the last race of the season.  Let’s look at Sunday’s race and NASCAR predictions.

Don’t Forget about the Non-Chasers

Most people will only bet on one of the 16 drivers in the Chase but there are 27 other drivers each week who will be trying to win. “It’s a little bittersweet to not be racing as part of the Chase, but my team is still focused on getting a win this weekend,” said rookie Kyle Larson, “I also still have winning rookie of the year as a goal, so we’ll work hard this weekend for a great finish and continue to gain points in the rookie standings.”

Race Notes

Sunday’s race will be held at the Chicagoland Speedway which is a 1.5-mile racetrack. There have been 13 races in the Sprint Cup at the track with Matt Kenseth winning last year. Only five of the previous thirteen races have been won from a driver starting in the top ten.

NASCAR Predictions

This is a good spot for Harvick who won in Chicago in 2001 and in 2002. He was third last season in this race and his team should be improved this week as his pit crew was switched out for Tony Stewart’s pit crew.  We’ll look for Harvick to get the win and for a longshot we’ll go with Clint Bowyer at NASCAR odds of 33-1.
