NASCAR Picks – NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race on Saturday Night on Fox Sports 1

NASCAR Odds: There are no points on the line on Saturday night but there is a lot of money on the line as the winner of Saturday night’s Sprint All-Star race gets a million dollars. The normal cast of drivers are listed as the top choices with Jimmie Johnson and Kevin Harvick the favorites. There are eight drivers listed with odds between 5-1 and 10-1 so this should be an exciting race that can be seen on Fox Sports 1. Let’s take a look at the race and NASCAR picks.

Field
There are 19 drivers who have already qualified for Saturday’s race by either winning a race last year or this year or being a past series champion or winner of this event. Those drivers are Jimmie Johnson, Kevin Harvick, Greg Biffle, Kyle Busch, Kurt Busch, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Gordon, Carl Edwards, Denny Hamlin, Kasey Kahne, Brad Keselowski, Matt Kenseth, Joey Logano, Jamie McMurray, Ryan Newman, David Ragan, Tony Stewart, Martin Truex Jr. and Brian Vickers. Three more drivers will get into the field as the winner and runner-up in Friday’s Sprint Showdown will also qualify along with the winner of the Sprint Fan Vote.

Race Notes
The field will be set for this race on Friday with qualifying taking place shortly before the race beings. Each driver makes one three-lap qualifying run, with a mandatory four-tire pit stop. The race format for the Sprint All-Star race has five segments. There are four 20-lap segments and then the final segment which is 10 laps. This will be the 30th year for the All-Star race and this year there is more emphasis on finishing well in each segment. The starting grid for the fourth segment will be based on the average finish in the first three segments and the final segment order is based on how teams come out of their final pit stop.

NASCAR Picks
This race is really a crapshoot as any of the top 10-15 drivers could win. Gordon is going really well right now so I will take him at odds of 8-1. I will also go with Matt Kenseth at NASCAR odds of 10-1.
