This has the makings of a high-scoring affair as the Navy Midshipmen (4-0) meet the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (4-1). This game will feature the IndFBS’s top passer, DeShone Kizer (862 yards, 7 TDs). Players will take the field Saturday, Oct 10 at 3:30 p.m. ET and it will air on NBC.
Notre Dame barely lost to Clemson 24-22 last week. DeShone Kizer had a big game passing the ball in the loss, completing 19 of 34 passes for 321 yards, two TDs and one interception. He did some damage on the ground, running for 60 yards and a TD on 15 attempts. Torii Hunter Jr. finished with 52 receiving yards and a TD on five receptions. Navy is hoping for another victory like last week’s performance, when it won easily over Air Force 33-11. Keenan Reynolds had a solid game throwing the ball for the Midshipmen, completing four of 10 passes for 117 yards and one TD. He added 183 yards on 24 attempts.
Notre Dame is a 16-point favorite in this game and the Over/Under (O/U) is presently unavailable.
The Fighting Irish enter the game with a record of 4-1 Straight Up (SU) and Against The Spread (ATS) this season. The Fighting Irish have America’s 13th-ranked running attack with 251 yards per game. Transitioning to the Notre Dame defense, there are a few things to keep in mind when it is on the field. Notre Dame’s defense will look to improve its stats against the pass when the Midshipmen come to town. Navy’s 66.2 passing yards per game makes them 127th in the nation. Notre Dame usually finishes games strong, averaging 11 points in the fourth quarter.
On the other side, the Midshipmen are undefeated with records of 4-0 SU and ATS. Navy has found a lot of success on the ground. Its 339.8 rushing yards per game ranks third in Division I. Switching gears to the Navy defense, there are certain areas where it measures up well against the Fighting Irish. If the Fighting Irish aren’t careful with ball security against Navy’s defense, they are going to be in some trouble. That defense has recovered the most fumbles on the season with 1.8 per game. The Midshipmen make it hard on their opponents down the stretch, averaging 10 points in the final quarter. Yellow flags are typically a rare sight when the Midshipmen are playing. They average the 18th-fewest penalties in the nation with 4.8 per game.
Predictions: SU Winner – Notre Dame, ATS Winner – Navy
