With just three weeks to go in the NFL season, the focus for most sports fans will be on the playoff race and finding out who is in and who is out in both the AFC and NFC this weekend. However, there is still a strong slate of NBA games for hoops fans this Sunday and that makes it worth taking the time to invest in some Daily Fantasy Leagues action. Here is some important NBA advice to consider for Sunday’s slate.
Weak Defense To Target: Phoenix Suns
The Philadelphia 76ers and Sacramento Kings are notable weak defenses worth targeting but one matchup that might fly under the radar a little bit is when they Milwaukee Bucks visit the Phoenix Suns. Even though the Suns are right there competing for a playoff spot in the Western Conference, they haven’t been very good defensively. Phoenix ranks 28th in the NBA in opponents field goal percentage and 25th in the NBA with an average of 105.2 points allowed per game this season. They did hold the New Orleans Pelicans to just 88 points on Friday but prior to that, they had allowed opponents to surpass the 100-point mark in six straight games.
Milwaukee hasn’t been the most dynamic offensive team by any means but Michael Carter-Williams, Jabari Parker and O.J. Mayo have each put up solid fantasy numbers this past week and are worth taking a chance on in Daily Fantasy Leagues.
Player Who’s Hot Right Now: DeMar DeRozan, Toronto Raptors
The Toronto Raptors are right there in the thick of the teams competing for the top seed in the Eastern Conference right now and DeRozan is a big reason for it. He has heated up again of late, averaging 26.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.5 steals per game over the past week of action. He should be primed for another big performance with the visiting Kings in town on Sunday evening. Sacramento is the worst defensive team in the NBA, so they should give up plenty of points as per usual.
Injuries, Rest Create Opportunities For… Omri Casspi, C.J. McCollum
The Sacramento Kings have given Casspi the opportunity to play big minutes for them and he has rewarded their faith with strong play including in particularly of late as he has averaged 15.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 3.0 three-point shots and 1.5 steals per game over the last week of action. Casspi has a favorable matchup versus Toronto and could be a strong bargain addition to your Daily Fantasy League roster.
Meanwhile, McCollum has run with the opportunity as a starter for Portland and he has really heated up of late with 22.3 points, 4.3 assists, 2.8 rebounds, 2.8 three-point shots and 1.0 steals per game over the last week of action. Those are star fantasy numbers for a player who isn’t as expensive as the star players on the board in Daily Fantasy Leagues and that makes McCollum worth targeting for Sunday’s game against the Miami Heat.
Highest Scoring Game Of The Night: NO @ Den
The Pelicans have climbed to 15th in the NBA with an average of 101.2 points per game this season following a slow start and they have the potential to be even better moving forward as they continue to develop in Alvin Gentry’s system as the year progresses. New Orleans should be able to put up a decent point total against the Nuggets, with Denver responding in order to keep pace at home in a game with the potential to be the highest scoring of the night. Anthony Davis, Tyreke Evans and Jrue Holiday are all solid fantasy options for New Orleans while Will Barton and Danilo Gallinari are quality plays for the Nuggets at home.
