The NBA returns with an absolutely loaded slate for Wednesday night with nine games on the schedule. That means plenty of options to choose from when it comes to finding the perfect balance between star players and strong sleeper options for NBA fantasy. It also means it will be that much more difficult not to miss when it comes to the key players that will be in the majority of winning lineups for Daily Fantasy Leagues. Here is some important NBA fantasy advice for Wednesday’s action.
Weak Defense To Target: Sacramento Kings
There isn’t any reason to expect the worst defense in the NBA to be any better down the final stretch. The Kings are on the verge of being mathematically eliminated from playoff contention so an improvement is unlikely after they have conceded an average of 109.0 points per game this season. Sacramento will host the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night and it makes sense to target their terrible defense. John Wall has averaged 19.0 points, 13.0 assists, 3.7 rebounds, 2.0 three-point shots and 1.7 steals per game over the last week of action and should deliver another stud performance if you can afford him. If you can’t, then consider plugging in Otto Porter Jr. as a strong value option. Porter has averaged 13.0 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.7 three-point shots in 37.0 minutes per game over that same span and should be a strong play versus Sacramento.
Player Who’s Hot Right Now: Devin Booker, Phoenix Suns
Phoenix isn’t even in the playoff picture but that is a good thing when it comes to Devin Booker getting every opportunity to showcase his skill set for the remainder of his rookie season. Booker has averaged 26.3 points, 5.0 assists, 3.8 rebounds, 1.5 three-point shots and 1.0 steal in 38.0 minutes per game over the last seven days. He should continue to play big minutes against the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday so make sure to ride the hot hand with Booker in your NBA fantasy lineup.
Injuries, Rest Create Opportunities For… Kristaps Porzingis, D.J. Augustin
The New York Knicks have to be thrilled what they have found in rookie Kristaps Porzingis, who has elevated his production again of late while averaging 35.5 minutes per game over the last seven days. Porzingis has averaged 20.8 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.0 three-point shots, 1.5 blocks and 1.5 assists per game over that span and it will be exciting to see how he performs opposite a veteran star that he has drawn comparisons to in Dirk Nowitzki when the Knicks visit the Dallas Mavericks.
Meanwhile, D.J. Augustin’s ability to stuff the stat sheet across the board is a big reason why he has emerged as such a strong value option from the Denver Nuggets. Augustin has averaged 12.8 points, 6.5 assists, 2.5 rebounds, 2.0 three-point shots and 1.3 steals per game over the last week of action and he will deliver another strong fantasy score at a very reasonable price against the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night.
Highest Scoring Game Of The Night: LAC @ MIN
The Los Angeles Clippers and Minnesota Timberwolves have combined to average 206.8 points per game this season and should be set for another high scoring game when they meet on Wednesday night. Blake Griffin has been medically cleared by the Clippers but will have to serve his four-game suspension before he returns to action. That should mean the balanced attack in Los Angeles continues with Austin Rivers arguably the best option from the Clippers for Wednesday night’s game as a sleeper pick with high upside based on his low price tag. Rivers has averaged 11.5 points, 2.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 three-point shot per game over the last week of action and is worth taking a chance on versus Minnesota. Meanwhile, Ricky Rubio has quietly put together some solid averages recently and is also worth taking a chance on. Rubio has averaged 15.0 points, 9.0 assists, 5.5 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 1.5 three-point shots per game over the past seven days and should deliver as a reasonably priced NBA fantasy option in Wednesday’s high scoring affair.
