NBA Fantasy: Advice For Friday’s Daily Leagues

The Golden State Warriors will continue their push for the all-time NBA record for wins in a season when they host the Boston Celtics on Friday night, which should spice up the NBA fantasy action. The Warriors are still undefeated on their home floor and while there is a good chance that trend continues versus Boston. There will be plenty of options to choose from when it comes to building the optimal lineup in DraftKings Daily Fantasy Leagues, and there is no doubt that Golden State should be involved in the highest scoring matchup of the night. Here is some important fantasy advice to consider for Friday’s NBA action.

Weak Defense To Target: Brooklyn Nets

The Brooklyn Nets won’t fall any further than 14th in the Eastern Conference this season but they have a lot of bad habits that have gotten worse as the year has progressed. The Nets rank 23rd in the NBA with an average of 105.2 points allowed per game this season and that makes them worth targeting when they visit the New York Knicks. Carmelo Anthony has put up some excellent numbers of late and could be an option in an effort to target the Brooklyn defense. Anthony has averaged 24.2 points, 7.4 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 2.4 three-point shots per game over the last month and should be a strong pick. Meanwhile, those looking for a sleeper option at a very reasonable price might want to consider Jose Calderon as an option. The veteran point guard has averaged 9.5 points, 7.0 assists, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 three-point shots and 1.3 steals per game over the last week of action and the combination of his recent form, price tag and the matchup versus the Nets makes him a strong sleeper play for Friday night.

Player Who’s Hot Right Now: Hassan Whiteside, Miami Heat

Hassan Whiteside has been on fire of late for Miami and is another player that should thrive with a favorable matchup against one of the NBA’s worst defenses on Friday night. Whiteside has averaged 21.7 points, 11.3 rebounds, 2.7 blocks and 1.0 steal per game over the last seven days. He could easily top those averages against the Sacramento Kings so consider riding the hot hand in Whiteside right now.

Injuries, Rest Create Opportunities For… J.J. Barea, John Henson

The Dallas Mavericks are fighting for a playoff spot and they have turned to J.J. Barea with substantial minutes with the hope that he can help them find a way to make it in down the stretch. Barea has responded with some strong production, averaging 16.8 points, 6.3 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 2.0 three-point shots per game over the last week of action. The Mavericks will travel to play the Detroit Pistons on Friday night and Barea should be a reliable value option in DraftKings tournaments.

Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Bucks have dropped five games in a row but John Henson has performed at a high enough level of late to consider him as another strong value option for Friday’s DraftKings tournaments. Henson has averaged 16.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game over the last seven days in NBA fantasy and will be worth taking a chance on when Milwaukee hosts the Orlando Magic.

Highest Scoring Game Of The Night: BOS @ GS

The Warriors are still undefeated at home and while that trend should continue on Friday night that doesn’t mean the Celtics will go down without a fight. These teams rank first and fifth respectively in points per game this season and it won’t be a surprise if they combine for the highest scoring game of the night on Friday. Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Isaiah Thomas are the obvious star options but they are also among the most expensive players on the board. The smarter route is to grab somebody like Evan Turner, who should continue to perform at a high level yet is still available at a very reasonable price. Turner has averaged 12.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.0 block and 1.0 steal per game over the last seven days and he could top those averages as a strong value option in the highest scoring game of the night for Friday in the NBA.
