NBA Fantasy: Advice For Leagues On Sunday

The push for the playoffs in the NBA continues on Sunday with six games on the schedule. That might very well be the perfect number for DraftKings Daily Fantasy Leagues with 12 rosters to choose from when you build your roster with the perfect combination of star power and strong sleeper value plays. Here is some important fantasy advice to consider for Sunday’s NBA fantasy action.

Weak Defense To Target: Sacramento Kings

The Sacramento Kings have dropped eight of their last 10 games to fall six games back of the Dallas Mavericks for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference and their terrible defensive numbers are a big reason why they are out of contention. Sacramento has allowed an average of 109.6 points per game this season to rank 30th in the NBA and even in their wins they continue to give up big point totals. That won’t change when they visit the New York Knicks on Sunday and it only makes sense to identify at least one strong value option in an effort to target them. Carmelo Anthony and Arron Afflalo have been very consistent for New York but the best bet for this matchup might very well be Langston Galloway. The Knicks’ point guard has averaged 11.5 points, 3.0 assists, 3.0 rebounds, 1.5 three-point shots and 1.0 steal per game over the last week of action and he should be able to at least match those averages with the Kings in town.

Player Who’s Hot Right Now: Victor Oladipo, Orlando Magic

The Orlando Magic has dropped back-to-back games and seven of their last 10 overall but that has had little to do with the play of their star point guard. Oladipo has been absolutely on fire of late including a career-high 45 points in a loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday night. Oladipo has averaged 27.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 2.5 three-point shots, 2.0 blocks and 1.8 steals per game over the past seven days and it will be interesting to see what he has in store for an encore when the Magic visit the Toronto Raptors on Sunday.

Injuries, Rest Create Opportunities For… David Lee, Shelvin Mack

David Lee continues to make the most out of his minutes with the Dallas Mavericks and is an intriguing play heading in to a key game with the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday. Lee has averaged 14.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in just 23.5 minutes per game over the last week of action and could easily top those averages on Sunday.

Meanwhile, it’s impossible to ignore what Shelvin Mack has brought to the table since he arrived with the Utah Jazz. Until his price tag goes up or his production goes down, we recommend turning to him for a strong value option. Mack has averaged 13.5 points, 7.0 assists, 5.3 rebounds, 1.9 three point shots and 1.0 steals per game over the last 15 days. The seven assists is quite impressive and he’s still giving you threes, points and steals. He should be a strong play in Daily Fantasy Leagues when the Jazz visit the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday night.

Highest Scoring Game Of The Night: LAC @ NO

The Los Angeles Clippers and New Orleans Pelicans rank seventh and 11th respectively in points per game this season so there is a good chance that their Sunday matchup produces the highest scoring game of the night. Chris Paul and Anthony Davis are among the obvious fantasy options for their respective teams but both sides offer at least one strong value option. JJ Redick is available at a very reasonable price when you consider his production over the last seven days. Redick has averaged a team-high 19.3 points, 3.0 three-point shots, 1.7 assists and 1.3 rebounds per game over that span and is worth consideration. Meanwhile, Toney Douglas has been fairly productive while averaging 27.3 minutes per game for the Pelicans over the last week. Douglas has averaged 12.5 points, 5.3 assists, 3.8 rebounds, 2.5 three-point shots and 2.0 steals per game over that span and as long as he should be a strong bet to match those averages against Los Angeles on Sunday.
