There are only two days left in the NBA regular season and with the playoffs right around the corner it is a very interesting time when it comes to DraftKings Daily NBA Fantasy Leagues. None of the five games for Tuesday will affect which teams get in and which teams remain on the outside looking in to a playoff spot so one of the most important aspects to remember for fantasy tournaments is which teams are the most likely to rest their starters ahead of the postseason. Here is some important advice to consider for Tuesday’s NBA fantasy action.
Weak Defense To Target: New York Knicks
The Indiana Pacers are tied with the Detroit Pistons for the seventh spot in the Eastern Conference and while they can’t climb any higher they could potentially fall to the eighth spot. That might not seem like a big deal at first glance but when you consider that it could mean a potential first round series with the Cleveland Cavaliers rather than the Toronto Raptors it’s clear that the Pacers should be motivated when they host the New York Knicks on Tuesday night. The Knicks have played some decent defense this season but they have dropped six of their last eight overall and should be vulnerable versus Indiana. Paul George, C.J. Miles and Monta Ellis are all decent options but the best bet for Daily Fantasy Leagues might be Solomon Hill. The third-year forward has averaged 14.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 three-point shots per game over the last seven days and is available at a very reasonable price in Daily NBA Fantasy Leagues.
Player Who’s Hot Right Now: Robert Covington, Philadelphia 76ers
This pick was a little more difficult when weighing in that several players that have been hot of late could play limited minutes or simply sit on Tuesday night. One player that won’t sit is Robert Covington, who has put up some solid numbers for a Philadelphia 76ers team that is buried at the bottom of the Eastern Conference right now. Covington has averaged 20.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, 4.3 three-point shots, 2.7 steals and 2.0 assists per game over his last three contests so ride the hot hand when the 76ers visit the Toronto Raptors.
Injuries, Rest Create Opportunities For… Jeff Green
The Los Angeles Clippers are among the teams that could sit some players on Tuesday night and that could mean more minutes for Jeff Green. The Clippers are dealing with some notable injuries to Paul Pierce and Austin Rivers so Green has seen a bump in playing time and could have a strong game against the Memphis Grizzlies. Green has averaged 13.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.0 three-point shot in 25.3 minutes per game over the last week and could top those averages versus Memphis.
Meanwhile, the veteran Vince Carter has come alive with some decent numbers for the Grizzlies down the stretch and could be worth considering in a meaningless game in which he can pad his numbers. Carter has averaged 12.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.3 three-point shots per game over his last three contests and is a decent value option to consider for Tuesday’s Daily NBA Fantasy Leagues.
Highest Scoring Game Of The Night: OKC @ SA
The Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs both rank in the top-10 in points per game this season but with both teams locked in to their playoff seeds in the Western Conference it’s hard to know who will play big minutes and who will not. The Spurs were handed their first home loss of the season by the Golden State Warriors on Sunday so there is a good chance Gregg Popovich holds some of his veteran players back. Meanwhile, the Thunder could still have Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant in the lineup but are more likely than not to limit their minutes and that could have a significant impact on their fantasy scores. The best bet is to roll with a strong value option in Jonathon Simmons. The 26-year-old rookie started the other night for Danny Green and has averaged 35.0 minutes per game over the last seven days. Simmons has averaged 15.0 points and 5.0 rebounds over that span and could top those numbers with a number of veterans potentially resting on Tuesday night.
