There are only five games on the slate for Sunday, but that is more than enough to attract some big money when it comes to NBA Fantasy Leagues. It also means lesser room for error when it comes to finding the perfect balance between the best star options and strong sleeper value plays in order to build the optimal lineup. Here is some important advice to consider for Sunday’s NBA fantasy action.
Weak Defense To Target: Sacramento Kings
Sacramento still ranks last in the NBA in scoring defense with an average of 109.5 points allowed per game this season so it is a good idea to target them in Daily Fantasy Leagues. Utah has struggled of late, but is still right there in the playoff hunt in the Western Conference and will approach this game with a strong sense of urgency. Gordon Hayward has been very consistent for the Jazz all season. He has averaged 20.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.8 three-point shots and 1.4 steal per game over the last month and is still available at a reasonable price tag. Meanwhile, Shelvin Mack has picked up his production since the trade that sent him to Utah and could be a strong value option. Mack has averaged 12.5 points, 5.0 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 1.5 three-point shots per game over the last week of action so consider him as a strong sleeper option for Sunday’s contests.
Player Who’s Hot Right Now: Paul George, Indiana Pacers
The Pacers are coming off back-to-back wins and George’s production is a big reason why they have come out on top in those games. George has averaged 30.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.0 three-point shots, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steal per game over the last week of action so it makes sense to ride the hot hand and plug him in for Sunday’s NBA fantasy matchup against the Atlanta Hawks.
Injuries, Rest Create Opportunities For… D’Angelo Russell, Khris Middleton
The Los Angeles Lakers season has been almost a waste but at least they have finally started to give their rookie first round pick upwards of 33 minutes per game. He has rewarded them with some excellent production as a result. Russell has averaged 23.4 points, 4.3 assists, 3.3 three-point shots, 3.0 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game over the past two weeks and should continue to produce with the New York Knicks in town on Sunday. It’s a plus matchup for him and he’s getting minutes. That’s all you really need to know when firing him up.
Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Bucks are dealing with a number of injuries including to Michael Carter-Williams and O.J. Mayo, so they will continue to lean on Khris Middleton in Sunday’s game against the Brooklyn Nets. Middleton has averaged 24.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 2.6 steals and 2.4 three-point shots per game over the last 15 days. We know that he’s a three-point sharpshooter as he was one of the contestants in the three-point shootout at the All-Star Game, but he’s also chipping in across some other categories. It makes sense to have him in your lineup for Sunday’s DraftKings contests – especially against the Nets, who are one of the worst teams in the NBA this season.
Highest Scoring Game Of The Night: CLE @ LAC
The Los Angeles Clippers have been just fine without Blake Griffin. They will face another tough test without him when they host the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday. The Clippers and Cavaliers rank sixth and ninth respectively in points per game this season, so it should be a high scoring affair when they clash. Chris Paul has really turned it up from a statistical perspective with Griffin out, but J.J. Redick might be the smarter option for Sunday’s Daily Fantasy Leagues. Redick has averaged 18.5 points, 3.8 three-point shots, 1.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game over the last seven days and he is available at a lesser cost than Chris Paul. Meanwhile, J.R. Smith offers a reasonably priced fantasy option from the Cavaliers. Smith has averaged 13.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.0 three-poi/nt shots and 1.5 assists per game over the last week of action and is another strong value play for Sunday’s DraftKings contests.
