The start of the March Madness has temporarily shifted the spotlight away from NBA fantasy to college basketball, but with eight games on the schedule in the NBA for Friday night, there will be plenty of opportunities to make some serious cash in DraftKings Daily Fantasy Leagues. Here is some important NBA fantasy advice to consider for Friday’s action.
Weak Defense To Target: Phoenix Suns
The Los Angeles Lakers have 14 wins in 68 games this season, but three of those victories have come over the course of their last 10 games. LA isn’t likely to climb out of the Western Conference basement, but they could provide some sneaky value options in DraftKings Daily Fantasy Leagues when they host the Phoenix Suns on Friday. Phoenix ranks 29th in the NBA with an average of 108.0 points allowed per game this season and won’t be any less vulnerable when they play the Lakers. Julius Randle has picked up his production over the last seven days and could be worth taking a chance on. Randle has averaged 12.0 points, 9.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.3 steals per game over that span and is available at a very reasonable price. Meanwhile, those willing to take a chance on a deep sleeper option might consider Marcelo Huertas as well. Huertas has averaged 10.0 points, 4.3 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.0 block per game over the past week and is available at a very low price tag.
Player Who’s Hot Right Now: Isaiah Thomas, Boston Celtics
The Boston Celtics will look to bounce back from a tough loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder when they visit the Toronto Raptors on Friday and All-Star guard Isaiah Thomas should be able to extend his hot streak. Thomas has averaged 26.7 points, 3.7 assists, 3.7 three-point shots, 3.3 rebounds and 1.0 steal per game over the last week so don’t be afraid to ride the hot hand in a key Eastern Conference showdown.
Injuries, Rest Create Opportunities For… Jerami Grant, Michael Beasley
The Philadelphia 76ers won’t beat the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday night, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have at least one strong value fantasy option that is worth taking a chance on in DraftKings tournaments. Entering Thursday night’s action, Carl Landry had averaged 14.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game over the past seven days but that’s because he was starting. Grant (concussion) returned to the lineup on Thursday night and played 30 minutes to Landry’s 11. Grant had 13 points on just six field goal attempts as he went 9-of-13 at the charity stripe. He also had five rebounds, three blocks and a steal. If you’re looking for a player that’s under the radar that can chip in, he’s a good value play in NBA fantasy. He’s usually good for a three-pointer here and there too.
Meanwhile, Michael Beasley has made the most of his minutes for the Houston Rockets of late and as long as he continues to take advantage of the opportunity he will remain a strong value option in Daily Fantasy Leagues. Beasley has averaged 15.0 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.0 steal in 19.0 minutes per game over the last week and should deliver a strong fantasy score when Houston hosts the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night.
Highest Scoring Game Of The Night: GS @ DAL
The Golden State Warriors’ pursuit of the best record in NBA history continues when they visit the Dallas Mavericks on Friday and it has the potential to be the highest scoring game of the night. Stephen Curry continues to perform at a ridiculously high level, but he is also the most expensive option on the board so it might make sense to look elsewhere when it comes finding a value play to take advantage of this matchup. Marreese Speights has averaged 13.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 three-point shot per game over the last seven days and he is available at a very reasonable price on DraftKings. Meanwhile, JJ Barea has been fairly consistent for Dallas despite averaging just 20.3 minutes per game over that same span. Barea has averaged 10.3 points, 4.3 assists, 2.0 rebounds and 1.0 three-point shot per game and is another decent value play for Friday night.
