Dwyane Wade retired after spending 16 seasons in the NBA, but he doesn’t plan to stop working. Namely, he wants to stay in shape and work out with former teammate LeBron James both at the Lakers’ training facility in El Segundo and at Staples Center.
“You’re definitely going to see me out there,” Wade said. “I’ll be there early to work out with LeBron before the game starts. I just want to stay around it and be as involved as I can.”

Wade added that he has a great relationship with all the players and that he has already worked with New Orleans Pelicans guard Josh Hart and Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons this summer.
Wade and James played together with the Miami Heat for four seasons from 2010 to 2014, also with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2017-18. They formed one of the best tandems in the NBA in this decade, and now their sons will be playing together at Sierra Canyon high school in Chatsworth, where Zaire Wade is a senior and Bronny James is a freshman.
Even though the 37-year-old is enjoying his retirement and is not expected to sign with another team right now, Wade would not entirely shut the door on a possible return.
“I’m done, but my trainer is going to keep me in shape just in case something happens,” Wade said with the smile. “I’m going to stay in shape because you never know. Never say never.”
Wade will continue to be involved with basketball and will closely monitor the situation around the NBA, so in case the opportunity arises, he might make a return to the court.
