Former Atlanta Hawks and Brooklyn Nets star Joe Johnson is trying to return to the NBA after winning the BIG3 League with the Triplets, and also winning the MVP award in the process.
According to sources close to ESPN, the veteran swingman is scheduled to work out for three NBA teams next week — the Detroit Pistons, Milwaukee Bucks and Brooklyn Nets.

During his 17 seasons in the NBA, Johnson averaged 16 points, four rebounds and 3.9 assists per game. He hit the game-winning three-pointer in the BIG3 League championship game in Los Angeles, helping his Triplets beat the Killer 3’s. In his last NBA action, Johnson averaged six points on 38.1% shooting from the floor in 23 games for the Houston Rockets in 2017-18.

The Undefeated’s Marc Spears previously said that Johnson worked out for the Philadelphia 76ers while the Los Angeles Clippers, Denver Nuggets, and New Orleans Pelicans also expressed interest.
“I am hopeful to get back, but I did not get in the BIG3 to get back to the league,” Johnson told Spears. “I had a great career. I enjoyed the process. The only thing that keeps the NBA fire in the belly is how it ended in Houston. That just does not sit well with me. So if an opportunity comes along and I feel that it is worth it, yeah, I take that chance.”
