According to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, LeBron James will not hand over his No. 23 jersey Anthony Davis, at least not yet. The jersey swap has been postponed because of potential production and financial issues with Nike.

Following the Lakers’ trade with the New Orleans Pelicans last month in which they acquired Anthony Davis and sent Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, and Josh Hart along with draft picks the other way, LeBron James wanted to switch from No. 23 to No. 6. LeBron quickly announced on his social media that he was willing to give No. 23 to Davis and that he would switch back to No. 6, the number he wore with the Miami Heat and Team USA in the Olympics. However, that’s not going to happen, at least not for the time being.
LeBron wore No. 23 during both of his stints with the Cleveland Cavaliers and last season with the Los Angeles Lakers. Anthony Davis wore the same number during his seven seasons with the New Orleans Pelicans, and after finding out that he will not be getting No. 23 this season, the Brow announced on his Instagram account that he would take his elementary school No. 3.

The Los Angeles Lakers will introduce Davis at a news conference in El Segundo, California, and LeBron is expected to attend the meeting.
