The New York Knicks failed to attract an NBA superstar to Madison Square Garden over the offseason, even though they targeted Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. Also, they hoped to get the No. 1 pick in the Draft and planned to select top prospect, Zion Williamson. However, they ended up with the third pick and selected RJ Barrett, while Williamson went to the New Orleans Pelicans.

“I’m a player that plays with a lot of passion, competitiveness, and excitement, so to be able to go in a home arena [Madison Square Garden] that has such a great fan base like that is going to make the game so much more fun. It’s going to be great,” said Barrett when asked about playing for the Knicks.
Several teams chased Barrett, one of the most sought-after players in the 2019 NBA Draft, and after impressing in the summer league, he could become one of the Knicks leaders in the upcoming campaign. Despite being just 19, Barrett is already a “killer” according to his former teammate Zion Williamson.
“[Knicks fans] can expect that they’re getting a killer,” said Williamson in a recent interview with SNY. “For the people that are trying to look down on him, RJ’s been through worse. He knows how to battle through it and he’s going to bring the city everything he’s got.”
