The Golden State Warriors erased a halftime deficit to cruise to a 116-101 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Monday night in Oakland. The win gives Golden State a commanding 2-0 series lead with the venue shifting later in the week. Coming into the game, the Warriors were nine-point favorites according to oddsmakers BetDSI. They were able to pick up their second straight cover after outscoring the Spurs 69-48 in the second half. Golden State’s hot second half shooting led to the game going over the total of 206.
The big two
With Steph Curry still out of the line-up, the Warriors turned to two of their other stars to lead them from behind in this game.
Kevin Durant proved to be too much for the Spurs. Durant led the Warriors with 32 points on 10-19 shooting from the field. He was able to get to the line often, and he sunk nine of his ten free throws. Rather humorously, Durant was also the only Warrior to miss a free throw. Golden State was 19-20 from the line on the night.
Klay Thompson was the other carry for the Warriors. Thompson didn’t do much else, but he finished the night 12-20 from the floor and tallied 31 points. He was 5-8 from beyond the arc, and it’s tough to beat Golden State when Thompson is hitting from range.
LaMarcus Aldridge had a great night
Aldridge nearly led the Spurs to an upset victory. He established his presence down low, going 11-21 from the floor and led all scorers with 34 points. Aldridge finished the night with a double-double and stayed out of foul trouble to give the short-handed Spurs a constant threat.
What’s next
San Antonio will look to get its first win of the series on Thursday night at 9:30 p.m. ET. No line has been released yet, but BetDSI will be the first to open betting odds on Game 3.
