Despite a late comeback that cut the lead to as little as two, the Miami Heat were able to hang to beat the Philadelphia 76ers 113-103 in Game 2 on Monday night. Those who backed the Heat on the moneyline were pleasantly rewarded as the Sixers were a 6.5-point favorite according to the oddsmakers at BetDSI. A Goran Dragic meaningless bucket at the end meant the total of 216 pushed.
The timeless Dwyane Wade
The best player in Miami Heat history was the catalyst for their upset win in Game 2. Wade was fantastic all game long, leading all scorers with 28 points even though he played just 26 minutes. The 15-year veteran doesn’t have all the tools he once did, but he was able to shake a defender or get to the line and finished the night 11-17 from the floor. He can only give Miami a certain amount of minutes at this point in his career, and he was sure to make his impact felt.
Philly’s woes from the floor
It’s not easy to win when you can’t hit threes. The 76ers had a hard time connecting from range all night long. Dario Saric was the best from long range all night, but he only managed to go 3-10 from distance. As a team, the 76ers were only able to go 7-35 from downtown, making life much easier for Miami’s defenders.
What’s next
These teams will meet in Miami on Thursday night at 7 p.m. ET for Game 3 with the series square at one. All eyes will be on the potential return of Joel Embiid prior to tip-off. Embiid was finally cleared from the NBA’s concussion protocol on Saturday, and he is considered questionable to play in Game 3. Embiid’s presence would shift the line a couple points, so keep an eye on his status. You can find odds for this game and every other NBA Playoff game at BetDSI.
