The Toronto Raptors took care of business in Game 2 on Tuesday night, defeating the Washington Wizards 130-119. The Raptors ended up covering the spread, which closed at -7 at BetDSI, and the game easily went over the number, which closed at 213.5.
The best-of-seven series now shifts to Washington where the Wizards will try to dig themselves out of a hole for Game 3. The Wizards have opened up as a small two-point favorite in Game 3, which is on Friday night.
The Wizards really never stood much of a chance in Game 2 as the Raptors blitzes them from the get-go. The Raptors had 44 points in the first quarter and held an 18-point lead by halftime. While the Wizards cut it to 10 entering the fourth quarter, they really never threatened to wrest control of the game. The Wizards bench scored just 21 points in Game 1 and many people figured that if they contribute more in Game 2, the Wizards could pull the upset. However, even though the bench poured in 63 points, the issue in Game 2 was the starts. John Wall had 29 points, nine assists, four rebounds and a block, but the other four starters combined for just 27 points.
As for the Raptors, their offense rolled in Game 2 with six different players scoring at least 11 points. Demar DeRozan was incredible, scoring a game-high 37 points while adding five rebounds and four assists. Jonas Valanciunas was incredibly efficient with 19 points and 14 rebounds in his 23 minutes played.
The Raptors whipped the Wizards on the boards, outrebounding them 48-34. And for a second straight game, the Raptors were red-hot from three-point land, nailing 13 baskets from distance.
If the Wizards are to get back in this series, they’ll have to limit the Raptors offense to around 110 points or less. They’ll also have to get a complete effort from their team from the starters to the bench. We’ll see if that happens when Game 3 rolls around on Friday.
