NCAA Champion Sintayehu Vissa Signs a Professional Contract

Sintayehu Vissa, the NCAA champion, has left Ole Miss track and field and cross country to pursue a professional deal with On Running. Through the cross-country, indoor, and outdoor seasons, Vissa, who rewrote the Ole Miss record books over two unforgettable seasons at Oxford, still had two full seasons of eligibility left.

Her fellow Ole Miss star Waleed Suliman did the same last summer before the U.S. Olympic Trials, making her the second Rebel to do it in as many years. Along with Suliman and Olympians like Brittney Reese, Sam Kendricks, and Raven Saunders, Vissa joins a long tradition of accomplished Ole Miss track and field competitors who have gone pro early. She also joins a long list of Ole Miss middle distance specialists, like Mario Garcia Romo, who have signed professional contracts over the past several years.
