NCAAF Matchups: Horns Look to Hook UCLA on Fox Saturday Night!

NCAAF Matchups:  The Texas Longhorns are still going through the process of new head coach Charlie Strong and his strong arm tactics at cleaning up a sloppy and entitled program with a new and welcomed discipline.  Strong has been handing out suspensions and removals with increased regularity and that, along with the latest concussion to QB David Ash, has served to deplete the Horns roster.  The UCLA Bruins were a hot preseason pick to win the Pac 12 but have been overlays that look overrated so far in 2014.  The Texas Longhorns will host the UCLA Bruins at Darrell K. Royal Memorial Stadium on Saturday night with coverage on FOX starting at 8 PM ET.  BetDSI opened with UCLA as an eight point favorite.

Trouble Bruin?

UCLA is 2-0 straight up but 0-2 against the spread and is coming off a 42-35 home win over Memphis as 22 point favorites.  UCLA’s defense is a problem as it ranks 98th overall in the nation and could not stop an outmanned Memphis team.  QB Brett Hundley was touted as Heisman Trophy materiel and has a 69% completion rate with a 3/1 TD/INT ratio.

Horns Hooked

Texas was dominated on their home field last week in a 41-7 loss to BYU as one point home favorites.  The Texas offense is anemic and ranks 115th overall in the nation as Ash is the only bona fide QB on the roster and may never play again.

Matchup and Pick
UCLA has come away with the money in eight out of their last 13 away games with seven out of their last eight road games going under the total.  Texas has covered the spread in 11 out of their last 20 home games with eight out of their last 11 home games going under the total.  UCLA has come away with the money in three out of their last four meetings with Texas as the last three meetings between the Bruins and Longhorns have gone over the total.  The Bruins have won and covered both of their previous visits to Darrell K. Royal Memorial Stadium with their last visit going over the total.  While we respect what Strong is doing UCLA is much further and deeper in development and we’ll call for the UCLA Bruins in this one!
