The SEC Media Days are in full swing in Hoover, and the University of Alabama was on display today. Nick Saban and Tua Tagovailoa were the stars of the show, but while Saban was his typical reserved self in dealing with the media, Tagovailoa showed us a little bit of personality.

247 Sports has the rundown of everything Tua Tagovailoa said earlier today, and there are some interesting little nuggets. The most interesting comments were in regards to the National Championship game against Clemson last year. Alabama was not used to playing from behind and Tagovailoa admitted that affected him back in January.
“National championship was probably one of the biggest things that I had to face, you know? No one wants to go back and look a lot of their mistakes. Being able to just watch the game and look at all the things that gone wrong and look at the mistakes that I could’ve not made. I (should’ve) taken what they gave me. Last year, we were goal-oriented and looked at the scoreboard too much instead of just playing. But it’s hard. Throughout the entire season, we didn’t have to play catch up. It was a whole new ball game (down vs. Clemson).”
He has been busy prepping for the new season too. Rather than go back to Hawaii and take some time off, Tagovailoa is ready to take Alabama back to the national title game in 2019. When asked about what he did over the summer, this was his response:
“Well, the entire time I spent with my family in Alabaster. Training. Working out. Every time we weren’t working out, we’d go fishing or Top Golf. Something like that.”
The training doesn’t sound like it was any joke either as SI’s Ross Dellenger reports.
Galu Tagovailoa leads his sons in what sounds like a miserable summer boot camp during which a strict diet is mandated and driving is prohibited.

Tagovailoa was the frontrunner to win the Heisman Trophy for most of 2018. An underwhelming performance against Georgia in the SEC Championship Game cost him college football’s most prestigious individual award, but he is the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy this year.
