NCAAF Picks: Mizzou hosts Georgia in SEC East showdown

NCAAF Picks:  Both the Georgia Bulldogs and the Missouri Tigers can be challenging teams to handicap as just when you are ready to give them a full buy-in they will let you down with an inexplicable loss only to bounce back with a stunning win at just the moment that they are written off as finished.  The Tigers and Bulldogs are on the inside track for the lead of the Southeastern Conference East Division and Mizzou’s win at UGA last year proved to be the springboard to their surprising 2013 East Division title.

The Tigers will host the revenge-minded Bulldogs at Farout Field on Saturday as the visiting Bulldogs opened as three-point road chalks. Coverage begins on CBS at noon ET.

Maty Money

Mizzou is coming off a bye week and is 4-1 straight up, 3-2 against the spread and 2-3 under the total after a stunning 21-20 comeback win at South Carolina in which they trailed 20-7 midway through the fourth quarter before QB Maty Mauk rallied the team by engineering two late TD drives to overcome a poor overall performance.  Mizzou ranks 78th in the nation for total offense and 60th for total defense.

Gurley Dawgs

Georgia is 4-1 SU, 2-3 ATS, and 5-0 over the total after a 44-17 win over Vanderbilt as 33.5 point home overlays.  Running back Todd Gurley is a top-shelf Heisman Trophy candidate that has 773 yards rushing with a ridiculous 8.2 yards per carry and eight TD’s.  Georgia ranks 31st nationally for total defense and sixth in the nation for scoring offense.

Matchup and Pick

Georgia has been a terrible board value on the road lately with just two payouts in their last 10 away games as five out of their last seven away games have gone over the total.  Mizzou on the other hand has become a strong board value at Farout Field with eight payouts in their last 11 home games as seven out of their last 10 home games have gone under the total.  The road team has paid out in both of the previous meetings in this head to head series with both games going over the total.  We will ride that head to head trend with the deeper and more talented Georgia Bulldogs (-3) and over the total for this SEC East showdown.
