NCAAF Picks: Upset-minded TCU hosts No. 4 Oklahoma

NCAAF Picks:  After missing a bowl last year and struggling with depth issues since joining the Big 12 Conference the TCU Horned Frogs have shown marked improvement so far in 2014 and have cracked the AP top 25.  The #4 Oklahoma Sooners are looking like the bona fide playoff contender that they were touted to be and as one of the most complete teams in the land.

The TCU Horned Frogs will host the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday at Amon G. Carter Stadium with coverage on FOX starting at 3:30 PM ET.  Oklahoma opened as a 5.5 point favorite as TCU’s success has brought the number down.  Please check BetDSI for the latest NCAAF lines.

Profits Sooner This Season

Oklahoma is 4-0 straight up, 3-1 against the spread, and 3-1 over the total after their 43-33 win at West Virginia which was followed by an off week.  The Sooners rank ninth in the nation for scoring offense and 18th for scoring defense.  Quarterback Trevor Knight has been solid with a 132.8 QB rating but a rather ordinary 4-3 TD-INT ratio.  Running backs Keith Ford and Alex Ross are both over 5.7 yards per carry.

Frogs Leap

TCU is 3-0 both SU and ATS with a 2-1 mark over the total.  The Horned Frogs are coming off a 56-0 road demolition of SMU.  The Frogs traditionally strong defense looks to be back as they rank second in the nation overall and second for points allowed.  Quarterback Trevone Boykin has shown significant improvement as well with a 142.7 rating and an impressive 8-1 TD-INT ratio.

Matchup and Pick
Oklahoma has paid out in nine out of their last 13 away games with just three out of their last 13 away games going under the total.  TCU has struggled to maintain good betting value at home with just seven payouts in their last 19 home games as six out of their last nine home games have gone over the total.  Oklahoma has come away with the cash in two out of their last three meetings with TCU as the last four meetings between the Sooners and Horned Frogs have gone under the total.  We’ll call for Oklahoma (-5.5) based on their depth, proven road value, and TCU’s inability to consistently cover at home.
