After spending his first 10 NBA seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers, center DeAndre Jordan changed teams twice last season. He represented the Dallas Mavericks before going to New York to join the Knicks as a part of Kristaps Porzingis’ trade to the Mavs.
Many labeled the New York Knicks as favorites to land superstar forward Kevin Durant in free agency, mainly because Durant and Jordan are old friends. The Knicks fans believed Jordan would play a part in bringing Durant to Madison Square Garden, but Durant chose the Brooklyn Nets instead, and Jordan pretty soon followed him to Barclays Center.
Jordan spoke about Durant’s Achilles rupture and his recovery while he also talked about his new team and the Brooklyn Nets’ culture.
“We’ve got a lot of talent on this team,” Jordan said. “You know obviously Kevin had a tough injury, he’s going to be out for a while, but he’s progressing great, he’s recovering fast, we’ll be even better when we get him back and healthy.”

Durant ruptured his Achilles in Game 5 of the NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors. Although Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr announced he would be out for the entire 2019-20 campaign, Nets general manager Sean Marks refused to rule out the possibility of Durant playing in the upcoming season.

Jordan played only 19 games for the New York Knicks, and even though he had an opportunity to re-sign with them, he chose the Nets because he admires coach Kenny Atkinson and GM Sean Marks.
“Not to knock the culture the Knicks are creating, but we like what Kenny’s doing and Sean’s been awesome and the organization, from top to bottom, has been great,” Jordan said. “So you want to be a part of something like that, especially when you have a chance to play with other great players and build something.”
