After a full weekend of college football action, we now shift our attention to the NFL with the start of the 2018 NFL season. As we get ready for kickoff, the betting lines have been jumping around quite a bit but let’s take a look back and see where the games opened.
Atlanta Falcons @ Philadelphia Eagles
Open: Eagles -4
The Eagles opened as a four-point favorite. The Super Bowl champs are at home on opening night hosting the Falcons in a playoff rematch from last year.
San Francisco 49ers @ Minnesota Vikings
Open: Vikings -4.5
The Vikings new-look offense, led by Kirk Cousins, hosts Jimmy Garoppolo and the 49ers in this one.
Houston Texans @ New England Patriots
Open: Patriots -6.5
The Patriots needed a last-second miracle to beat the Houston Texans last season. In this one, we’ll see the return of Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, who missed most of last year with a knee injury.
Cincinnati Bengals @ Indianapolis Colts
Open: Colts -1
Speaking of quarterbacks returning from injuries, Andrew Luck is back under center for the Colts as they open their season versus the Cincinnati Bengals.
Jacksonville Jaguars @ New York Giants
Open: Jaguars -3.5
The Jaguars came within one quarter of making the Super Bowl last year. Now they open their 2018 campaign as a 3.5-point road favorite against the new-look Giants.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ New Orleans Saints
Open: Saints -7
Jameis Winston will be suspended for this contest, which part of why the Saints opened as a touchdown favorite.
Buffalo Bills @ Baltimore Ravens
Open: Ravens -3.5
The Bills haven’t settled on a starting quarterback just yet. Regardless of who is under center, they’ll be a sizable road dog at Baltimore on Sunday.
Tennessee Titans @ Miami Dolphins
Open: Titans -2.5
The Titans are trying to prove that they’re a legitimate playoff contender in the AFC. If it’s true, they’ll have to win games like this.
Kansas City Chiefs @ Los Angeles Chargers
Open: Chargers -3
The Patrick Mahomes-led Chiefs head to Los Angeles to face the Chargers in a Week 1 divisional matchup. One of these teams will get an early leg up in the AFC West.
Dallas Cowboys @ Carolina Panthers
Open: Panthers -2.5
The Cowboys offensive line is battered and bruised a little bit. How much will that impact them as they head to Carolina as a road dog?
Seattle Seahawks @ Denver Broncos
Open: Broncos -1.5
The Broncos opened as a 1.5-point favorite against the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks have had a rough offseason as their defense lost a lot of quality when Sheldon Richardson, Richard Sherman and Michael Bennett left.
Washington Redskins @ Arizona Cardinals
Open: PICK
The lone game to open up as a PICK is the Redskins-Cardinals matchup. Both teams are expected to finish in last place in their divisions.
Chicago Bears @ Green Bay Packers
Open: Packers -8.5
The Packers get Aaron Rodgers back after he missed most of last season. He’ll have to contend with a highly-improved Chicago Bears defense on Sunday Night Football.
New York Jets @ Detroit Lions
Open: Lions -6.5
The Lions opened -6.5 but they’ll have to face rookie quarterback Sam Darnold in this one. This game also marks the debut of Lions head coach Matt Patricia with his new team.
Los Angeles Rams @ Oakland Raiders
Open: Rams -1
The Rams opened as a one-point favorite in this contest as this was originally expected to be an even matchup. They have become a bigger favorite as the Raiders have made some moves – including trading away Defensive Player of the Year Khalil Mack.
