Now with three weeks’ worth of games in the books, it is starting to get a little easier to identify the best matchups and find the lowest cost players with the biggest upside. These four players are great options for Week 4 and, at their current DFS values, give you some flexibility to get some of the highest priced stars into your line-up. Here are the best values in DFS for Week 4 of the National Football League season.
QB – Jared Goff, Los Angeles Rams
DFS Salary: $5600
Three weeks in the season and Jared Goff has transformed himself into a starting quarterback in the NFL. Goff has been great every game this season, yet ranks as the 23rd most expensive option at the quarterback position this week. He has led the Rams to the highest scoring offense in the NFL through three weeks and should continue to put points on the board as he has a great matchup in Week 4 against the Cowboys. The Dallas Cowboys finished as the 19th and 31st ranked team against quarterbacks in fantasy the last two weeks. This is the same group that gave up the seventh most passing yards to quarterbacks in 2016 and allowed an average of 18.2 points per game in DraftKings scoring.
RB – Jonathan Stewart, Carolina Panthers
DFS Salary: $4300
With the New England Patriots likely to take away Christian McCaffrey’s receiving game on Sunday, Jonathan Stewart should see an expanded role in the Carolina Panthers offense. The veteran back is still the lead rusher for the Panthers, averaging 15 attempts per game. The Panthers will need to control the clock if they are to have any chance on the road at upsetting the Patriots. Stewart’s best fantasy game of the season came on the road in Week 1, when the running back scored 16.2 points in DraftKings scoring. Jonathan Stewart has averaged 0.58 rushing touchdowns per game over the last two seasons, and with zero on rushing TDS on the season so far, the statistics tell us he is due to score this weekend.
WR – Sterling Shepard, New York Giants
DFS Salary: $5000
Receptions are a big part of many DFS competitions. Entering Week 4 of the NFL season, Shepard has 16 receptions for 200 yards. The sixteen reception tie for 19th in the NFL this season while the 200 yards leads the New York Giants. In Week 3, Shepard showed off big-play abilities, taking a short pass 77 yards to the house for a touchdown. Shepard plays the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 4. The Buccaneers defense was picked apart by Case Keenum and the Minnesota Vikings receivers last week. The Buccaneers also will be without defensive lineman Gerald McCoy and linebacker Lavonte David for this game, making life much easier on Eli Manning and the New York Giants offensive line. Expect Shepard to see plenty of targets go his direction in Week 4 and put up some great fantasy numbers. Beckham Jr. comes with a much higher price tag but Shepard might be the better play in this spot. He’s definitely better value.
TE – Jesse James, Pittsburgh Steelers
DFS Salary: $3000
The tight end position is always one of the trickier positions to find the best value. Usually, the best strategy is to look for low value players with touchdown potential. That is why Jesse James it the best value of the week at the tight end position. The Baltimore Ravens have given up a league-high four touchdowns to tight ends, including three last week. James caught two touchdowns in his first game of the season, which was on the road against a division rival. The second highest receiving total of James’ career came against the Baltimore Ravens on Christmas day last season. At just $3000, Jesse James price is an absolute bargain. He’s not a piece that is used every single week in this Steelers offense, so you have to pick your spots. After a couple of quiet weeks for him, this might be the right place and time to use him. His history against the Ravens and their weak pass defense – with tight ends – is an encouraging sign.
