As injuries pile up and players miss time, the pool of players to pick from changes every week. Mid-tier players, who move up on the depth charts see their cost increase, while new players enter as inexpensive but risky options. For Week 7 of the NFL season, the best value is going to cost you a little more than normal. Still, none of these players are too expensive, leaving you room to get a few superstars into your lineup. Here are the best-valued players in DFS for Week 7 of the NFL season.
QB – Kirk Cousins $6500
It is getting harder and harder, each week to find low-value quarterbacks with high upside. Now, the strategy is shifting more towards middle-to-upper echelon quarterbacks with the best matchups. That is why Kirk Cousins gets the nod for quarterback of the week in DFS. The Eagles defense has been prone to giving up big plays this season, which bodes well for Cousins who has topped 330 yards passing in two of his last three starts. In his career against the Eagles, Cousins has averaged 303 yards passing and 2.2 passing touchdowns, while adding 46 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown in six games. With all his wide receivers healthy and the emergence of Chris Thompson in the passing game, Cousins should continue to put up good numbers against the Eagles.
RB – LeGarrette Blount $4500
The big, bruising back gets a nice matchup in Week 7 against the Washington Redskins. The Skins are allowing the 15th most points to RBs in DraftKings this season, but have faced the second fewest rushing attempts per week. Blount is averaging 5.6 yards per carry on 70 rushing attempts this season, the highest number of his career. Blount also has two touchdowns on the season, one rushing and one receiving, and has a great opportunity to get another against a Washington defense giving up a touchdown per game to running backs this season.
Although Blount is not a very good receiving running back, the Redskins are one of the worst teams in the NFL at limited backs from catching passes. The Redskins give up an average of seven receptions per game to running backs, fourth most per game in the NFL this season. Blount could snag a pass or two. Expect Philly to run the ball with Blount, to avoid Washington’s secondary, which has been good all season.
WR – Ted Ginn Jr. $4100
Ted Ginn Jr. had his best game as a New Orleans Saint in Week 6 and is starting to look more comfortable in the Saints offense. Part of what is helping his case is that Michael Thomas isn’t shining like last season, Brandon Coleman is just OK and Willie Snead hasn’t been used.
Ginn gets a good matchup this week against the Green Bay Packers. The Packers defense is average at best, but may be asked to do more than usual as the offense transitions from Aaron Rodgers to Brett Hundley. The Packers give up the 13th most fantasy points in full point PPR leagues, yet face the 12th fewest targets to wide receivers per game this season. The Packers may not be able to generate much offense in Week 7, giving the Saints extra possessions and extra opportunities to put points on the board.
TE – Jimmy Graham $4900
Unlike most weeks, where the best strategy is to find a low-cost tight end who could find his way into the end zone, this week the best value is to spend more on a player with a much higher ceiling. Coming out of his bye week, Jimmy Graham is ready to jump right back into action and have a monster game against the New York Giants. The Giants are giving up the second most points to tight ends this season in PPR leagues and the most points to the position in standard scoring. Expect Graham to stretch the field against the Giants on Sunday. The Giants are coming off a good week (defensively speaking) but it’s hard to say whether that will continue. Remember that this team was winless prior to last week and had been rather rudderless before last week’s shocking performance.
