NFL Lines: The NFL regular season comes to a close on Sunday with a number of important games. Will the public be on all of the teams that need to win in Week 17? Let’s look at who the public likes against the spread in Week 17.
Indianapolis Colts -6.5 at Tennessee Titans
The public expects the Colts to bounce back after last week’s debacle against Dallas. It is hard to argue as the Titans are a bad football team with no real incentive to win this game. Andrew Luck should have a field day and the Colts should roll.
Baltimore Ravens -9 vs. Cleveland Browns
The public also expects the Ravens to bounce back this week in a game they have to win to have any chance of making the playoffs. It is really simple for Baltimore as if they win and the Chargers lose, they are in.
Buffalo Bills +3.5 at New England Patriots
How is this one for a switch? The public is all over the Bills in their game at New England on Sunday. There is a huge reason the public is backing Buffalo and that is because the Patriots are expected to rest their starters in a meaningless game. New England has clinched the overall #1 seed in the AFC so this game means nothing to them. The Bills are also trying to break a long losing streak at New England so it makes some sense but trusting this team to win on the road is still risky.
Atlanta Falcons -3.5 vs. Carolina Panthers
The NFC South comes down to this game on Sunday and the public likes the home team minus the points. Neither team is having a good season but someone has to win the rotten division. The public likes the Falcons minus the points.
New Orleans Saints -4 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The public is backing the Saints and on the surface it seems strange but when you look into the game it makes total sense. The Bucs don’t want to win this game as they are locked into the worst record which means the #1 pick in next year’s NFL Draft. The public is laying the points and taking New Orleans.
Seattle Seahawks -13 vs. St. Louis Rams
No surprise in this one as the public is all over the Seahawks at home in a game they need to win to clinch the #1 seed in the NFC.
San Francisco 49ers -6 vs. Arizona Cardinals
This one is also no surprise when you think about it as the 49ers may want to play hard in the finale for head coach Jim Harbaugh. The Cardinals have already clinched a playoff spot and will be starting rookie Logan Thomas at quarterback.
