Maybe all he needed was a little vocal support from head coach Jon Gruden after all. Monday, an independent arbitrator turned down Oakland Raiders wide receiver Antonio Brown’s request to wear an older helmet that would not currently comply with the NFL’s safety standard.
To play, Brown must wear one of the new, approved helmets. After threatening to retire if he couldn’t use the old lid, A.B. changed his tune after the judgement, making it clear he will rejoin the Raiders in spite of his dislike of cranial adornment.
“While I disagree with the arbitrator’s decision, I’m working on getting back to full health and looking forward to rejoining my teammates on the field,” Brown said in a statement on his Instagram. “I’m excited about this season appreciate all the concerns about my feet!”

Now all Brown and the Raiders need to worry about are his frostbitten feet, suffered by using a cryochamber without the proper footwear. That problem doesn’t appear to be serious and the fact that A.B. seems ready to put the helmet fiasco behind him should be good news for everybody.
Could the Jets move Jamal Adams to corner?
He’s already one of the best safeties in the NFL, but with a rash of injuries hitting the New York Jets secondary, Jamal Adams has volunteered to move to corner if needed.
“If they need me to go to corner, I’ll go to corner,” Adams told reporters Monday. “I’m dead serious.”

Starting corner Trumaine Johnson is nursing a hamstring and undrafted rookie Kyron Brown went down with an injury Monday. New York should still be OK with Darryle Roberts and Brian Poole, but cant’ afford to lose anyone else before the regular season starts.
In his second year out of Alabama, Adams made the Pro Bowl in 2018 with 115 tackles, nine for a loss, 3.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, 12 passes defended and one interception. The Jets picked him No. 6 overall in the 2017 NFL Draft.
