NFL News: Bills trade Eli Harold to Eagles, Antonio Callaway Suspended

Vinatieri Colts

Talk about a return on your investment. The Philadelphia Eagles signed offensive tackle Ryan Bates off the street as an undrafted free agent back in May and now they’ve turned around and traded him for Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Eli Harold.

Harold is a former third round pick out of Virginia by the San Francisco 49ers. He recorded 10 tackles, four for a loss, one pass defense and four sacks in 13 games for the Bills last season. Harold has started 25 games in his four-year career.

Buffalo has been bleeding offensive lineman since the preseason began. They just lost LaAdrian Waddle to a a torn quadriceps and center Mitch Morse is in concussion protocol. Jon Feliciano and Spencer Long have been banged up

They got some good news on the OL front Friday as tackle Conor McDermott was cleared from the concussion protocol. They did cut Jeremia Sirles with an injury settlement and signed Nico Siragusa.

For the Eagles, they had a DL spot open up thanks to a torn ACL suffered by Joe Ostman. The fact that they could add quality depth like Harold in exchange for a UDFA is some solid roster shuffling.

Antonio Calloway suspended four games

He came into the league with issues at the University of Florida and now they’ve shown up again. Talented but troubled Cleveland Browns wide receiver Antonio Callaway will have to sit four games after violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.

Callaway was suspended for the entire 2017 season with the Gators and was hit with a positive marijuana test at the 2018 NFL combine.

With Callaway in the fold, the Browns boasted one of the most potent WR groups in the league, with Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry teaming up with the second-year potential star. Last season Callaway caught 43 passes for 586 yards and five touchdowns.
