When the question comes down to who will be your starter for Week 1 of the NFL season, Case Keenum or Colt McCoy, the only legitimate answer is “no.”
Unfortunately for the Washington Redskins, that “none of the above” bubble is not on their scantron sheet and after McCoy has struggled in his comeback from a broken leg suffered in December, Keenum it is.
The former Texas Longhorns quarterback just isn’t ready.
“It might be two or three weeks into the season,” Gruden told ESPN. “We don’t know yet. There’s no timetable for him (McCoy) until he feels like he’s 100 percent to push off that leg. Until that time comes, he’s going to be rehabbing.”
Jay Gruden today on how soon Colt McCoy might return from a broken leg that ended his 2018 season: “Oh man, it might not be the end of camp, it might be two or three weeks into the season. We don't know yet.”

So it’s Keenum’s job to lose, and he does everywhere he goes, he most certainly will. The sooner the team turns to first round pick Dwayne Haskins, the better.
McCoy started two games for Washington last year before getting injured. He completed 63 percent of his passes for 372 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions.
Le’Veon Bell will not play in the preseason
New York Jets head coach Adam Gase made it official Monday, letting reporters know that freshly-acquired running back Le’Veon Bell will not suit up at all in the team’s preseason games.
After losing linebacker Avery Williamson to a torn ACL, Gase wants to be more careful with his stars.
“I understand they’re going to protect me from myself,” Bell told the NY Daily News. “I’m definitely ready to play. And play against people other than my teammates… and guys who don’t know our plays. It’s hard having to be patient and wait, but at the same time, I know it’s for the better good. When Week 1 comes around, I’m going to be happy out there playing. OK, now the lights are on. It’s time to go.”
It's been 5⃣8⃣1⃣ days since Le'Veon Bell took a snap in an NFL game — and fans will have to wait a little longer to see him do it again.

Bell sat out all last season with the Pittsburgh Steelers to become an unrestricted free agent this season. The Jets signed him to a four-year, $52.5 million contract back in March.
