It was one of the feel-good stories of the offseason and now it might be over. Quarterback Vincent Testaverde earned a spot on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 90-man training camp roster, but on Wednesday he lost it.
The Bucs cut him and placed offensive lineman Mike Liedtke on injured reserve in order to sign defensive lineman Stevie Tu’ikolovatu and safety John Battle. Leidtke was lost for the season after injuring his shoulder. Battle is an undrafted free agent out of LSU. Tu’ikolovatu was originally a seventh rounder for the Bucs in 2017.

Vincent’s dad Vinny Testaverd was the No. 1 overall pick by Tampa Bay in the 1987 NFL Draft out of Miami. He played 21 seasons in the NFL for seven different teams. Vincent didn’t even make it 21 days.
There’s always a chance that the younger Testaverde could land on another team’s roster or in the XFL, but that’s significantly less fun than him earning a job with the team that drafted his dad.
As a senior with the University of Albany Great Danes, Vincent completed 53.4 percent of his passes for 1,714 yards and 11 touchdowns.
