Don’t knock Adrian Peterson off your fantasy football draft list just yet. After missing all of last season with an ACL tear suffered in the summer, Washington Redskins running back Derrius Guice is hurt once again. This time it’s a hamstring issue, but the team isn’t acting like it’s serious.
Guice was a second round pick in 2018 out of LSU where he rushed for 3,074 yards and 29 touchdowns in three seasons, in spite of Leonard Fournette sitting in front of him on the depth chart as a freshman.
Source confirms @ErinHawksworth report that Derrius Guice tweaked his hamstring while rehabbing.
Not sure it really effects much, because he was already going to be monitored in camp. Also happened a few weeks ago, so has already had time to heal.

Washington has an intriguing running back room full of options, so Guice, even as a second round pick full of potential, really needs to get out on the field. The team re-signed Peterson in the offseason after a resurgent 2018 where he rushed for 1,042 yards and seven touchdowns, averaging 4.2 yards per carry. The rest of the depth chart is filled with potential and productivity in Samaje Perine and Chris Thompson.
Rookie fourth round pick Bryce Love out of Stanford is a real danger to Guice and, with anymore setbacks, could give the team incentive to go ahead and cut bait. Love put up similar college stats to Guice, with Christian McCaffery ahead of him his first two years. He rushed for 3,865 yards, including a 2,118-yard 2017 season and scored 30 touchdowns with the Cardinal.
Jets’ Herndon and free agent McDowell get suspensions
New York Jets tight end Chris Herndon will be forced to sit the first four games of the 2019 season for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. The tight end plead guilty to a DWI on Jan. 9, was fined $639 and his New Jersey driver’s license was revoked for 90 days.
The NFL has suspended TE Chris Herndon for the first four games.

Last season Herndon played in 16 games and started 12 for the Jets, catching 39 passes for 502 yards and four touchdowns.
While Herndon will have a job when he returns, free agent Malik McDowell will have to get signed by a team in the first place to sit out the two games levied against him by the league after a disorderly conduct arrest. The former first round pick of the Seattle Seahawks has yet to play a down in the NFL.
A video surfaced showing NFL player Malik McDowell getting hit with a taser from a police officer after asking for a supervisor. McDowell removed the prongs from his body and attempted to restrain the police officer.
