Jeremy Hill missed his chance to carry the ball for a championship team after tearing his ACL in the New England Patriots’ season opener. A free agent again, Hill should be cleared to resume practice soon and hopes to land with another NFL team.

“I think for me coming off a big ACL injury, I’m just doing what I can to get back to 100 percent,” Hill told The Advocate. “I know there’s going to be a job waiting on me when I get cleared, so that’s all I’m doing now. I’m just trying to get healthy and once that happens, I’ll be back. I’m pretty close. I’m about eight months out of surgery, so hopefully soon.”

Hill spent the first four years of his career with the Cincinnati Bengals, with his best season a 1,124 yards, nine touchdown campaign coming as a rookie in 2014. In the last two seasons, injuries have hampered his performance. He’s played in just eight total games since 2017.

Jaguars cut Snelson for Simms

Adding undrafted free agent Marcus Simms out of West Virginia cost another Jacksonville Jaguar his job. Thursday, the team waived wideout Dredrick Snelson on an injury designation. If Snelson makes it through waivers, he’ll land back on Jacksonville’s injured reserve list. The Jags signed Snelson as a UDFA out of Central Florida this offseason. Last year with the Black Knights, he caught 43 passes for 688 yards and five touchdowns.

Saints DE Granderson sentenced to six months in jail

His NFL career has likely ended before it even began. Undrafted free agent rookie Carl Granderson of the New Orleans Saints was sentenced to six months in jail Thursday after he was charged with third-degree sexual assault and battery. Granderson recorded 40 tackles, 7.5 for a loss, one interception, two passes defended, one defensive touchdown and three sacks for Wyoming as a senior.
