It’s apparently a thing now. A year after Sam Darnold dragged his feet on reporting to New York Jets camp, first round pick Quinnen Williams is a no-show as rookies reported Friday.
Williams was the No. 3 overall pick out of Alabama. As a sophomore with the Crimson Tide, Williams had 45 tackles, 19.5 for a loss, eight sacks and one pass defense.
Last season Darnold missed practices while he was working out his contract, but took over as the starting quarterback with little issue. Don’t expect a lengthy holdout for Williams, as the rookie wage scale doesn’t give agents, players and teams much room to negotiate.
The #Jets rookies report today and No. 3 overall pick DL Quinnen Williams is still unsigned. The team planned for him to fly in Thursday, but he was not on the flight. Similar to last year with Sam Darnold, NYJ’s first rounder may not report with his teammates.
