There might be more moves afoot for the Denver Broncos as they head into the final hours of Week 1 of the NFL season. Quarterback Joe Flacco has restructured his deal with the team, adding two voidable years and turning his base salary into a $17 million signing bonus, opening up $13.6 million in salary cap space.
What are the Broncos planning to do with this money?
The #Broncos did a simple restructure on QB Joe Flacco’s contract, converting $17 million of his base salary into a signing bonus and adding two voidable years to clear $13.6M in 2019 cap space. Still due $20.25M in 2020 and $24.25M in 2021.

It could be that someone else has a new contract extension coming or they’re making room for some key additions to a team I think will surprise plenty of pundits come December.
Flacco’s contract still has him making $20.25 million in 2020 and $24.25 million in 2021.
Alshon Jeffery’s restructured contract is now fully guaranteed.
Wide receiver Alshon Jeffery allowed the Philadelphia Eagles to do some wheeling and dealing with his contract, doing pretty much the same thing the Broncos did with Flacco. Jeffery’s base salary of $11.75 million was converted to a signing bonus, making his 2019 money fully guaranteed.
The Eagles agreed to a restructured contract with WR Alshon Jeffery that guarantees his 2020 salary while also providing some salary cap relief for the team.

Jeffery still has two years on his contract and his due to make $12.750 million in 2020 and 2021. With his 2019 salary now spread out across three seasons, by my math not only did Jeffery get that amount guaranteed, the team opened up nearly $4 million in cap space.
Pats do something not Antonio Brown related, extend Jones
It was lost in the monstrous news of the day, but the New England Patriots did sign over some contract money to a guy that’s not named Antonio Brown. New England and cornerback Jonathan Jones reached a deal on a three-year, $25 million extension with $13 million in guaranteed cash.
News story: CB Jonathan Jones, who played key role in game-plan against Tyreek Hill (1 catch) in AFC title game, agrees to three-year extension with base value of $21 million. https://t.co/Tj77nmaZlj

Jones, a fourth-year player out of Auburn, joined the team as an undrafted free agent back in 2016. Last year he started five games, half his total career starts, and played in 16, recording 56 tackles, 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble, seven passes defended and three interceptions.
