NFL News: Kareem Hunt Goes Under the Knife, Trent Williams Won’t Show

Kareem Hunt Browns

Kareem Hunt was already going to have to sit for the first eight games of the NFL season with a suspension. Now, he’ll have to do it gingerly. The Cleveland Browns’ running back used the opportunity away from the game to get a sports hernia surgically repaired.

Hunt is expected to fully recover and be 100 percent by the time he’s off the half-season ban. His first opportunity to suit up for the Browns will come in Week 10 when they host the Buffalo Bills.

In 11 games with the Kansas City Chiefs last season, Hunt rushed for 824 yards and seven touchdowns, averaging 4.6 yards per carry. He caught 26 passes for 378 yards and seven touchdowns.

In other Browns news, the team traded a 2020 fifth and sixth round picks to those same Buffalo Bills for guard Wyatt Teller and a 2021 seventh round selection. Teller started seven games for the Bills last season after the team picked him in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

Teller is expected to slide into the starting right guard spot, sending Eric Kush to the bench to focus on his stringer tank collection.

Trent Williams will not report to the Redskins

It’s come down to the final week of the preseason and offensive tackle Trent Williams has not joined the Washington Redskins. According to his former teammate and friend DeAngelo Hall, he has no intention to change that.

Reportedly, Williams told Hall there was “zero chance” he would report to Washington

Washington seems to have given up on getting Williams in the fold and have on the trading block. They “leaked” that the New England Patriots offered them a first round pick for Williams early in the offseason last week. A report the Patriots denied.

While Williams is undoubtedly worth a significant offer when healthy, there’s no guarantee he’ll be cleared to play for any team. He had a tumor removed from his head that might require more surgery.
