Well, that’s one big-name hold out that’s come to an end. New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas and the team agreed to a five-year, $100 million contract extension that will keep him in the Big Easy through the 2022 season. The contract is the biggest ever signed by a non-quarterback offensive player and comes with $61 million in guaranteed cash.
For the #Saints and WR Michael Thomas, his 5-year, $100M extension includes $61M in guarantees, sources say. And one of training camp’s holdouts is over.

As a second round pick out of Ohio State in 2016, the Saints had no choice but to cave to the All Pro wide receiver’s demands. There was no fifth-year option available to hold over him.
Thomas is undeniably one of the best wide receivers in football and now he’s paid like it. He set a new NFL record in receptions for a player in the first three years of his career and led the league in catches last season with 125. He’s eclipsed more than 1,100 yards in all three of his campaigns and in 2018 racked up 1,405 yards and nine touchdowns.
The mark has now been set for Julio Thomas’ new contract with the Atlanta Falcons. Less so for Amari Cooper and the Dallas Cowboys, as his production has been nowhere near Thomas’.

L.J. Collier goes down with high ankle sprain
It’s been a rough week for ankles. Seattle Seahawks first round pick L.J. Collier left the practice field Tuesday after suffering a high ankle sprain. He’s being evaluated further, but is expected to miss the rest of the preseason.
Considering the trouble an ankle sprain has caused Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green, this has to be concerning.
Seahawks’ first-round pick LJ Collier went down during 11-on-11 drill and was carted off with a right leg injury.

Seattle selected Collier with the No. 29 overall pick in April’s NFL Draft out of TCU. Last season with the Horned Frogs, the defensive end recorded 27 tackles, 11.5 for a loss, four passes defended and four sacks.
It wasn’t all bad news for the Seahawks Tuesday. They did reach a long-term contract agreement with longsnapper Tyler Ott.
