Morris Claiborne’s continued unemployment has been one of the mysteries of the NFL offseason. With news that he could be looking at a four-game suspension for violating the league’s substance abuse policy, that mystery has probably been solved.
Last season in 15 games with the New York Jets, Claiborne recorded 57 tackles, 14 passes defended and two interceptions. Those are good enough numbers to land a job anywhere. They’re significantly less appealing when he’ll miss the first month of the season.

Claiborne has taken multiple free-agent visits and is likely getting low-balled on a one-year deal because of the four-game ban. He’ll eventually land on a team, but it won’t be for the money he’s probably looking for.
The cornerback was originally a first-round pick for the Dallas Cowboys in 2012 out of LSU. He spent five seasons with Dallas and the last two with the Jets.
Patriots add Cameron Meredith to wideout room
Cameron Meredith wasn’t out of work for long. After getting cut from one Super Bowl contender, the New Orleans Saints, he landed on another, the New England Patriots.
Per source #Patriots have no immediate plans to rush Cam Meredith back on to the field. They'll work on strengthening the knee/increasing flexibility before they deem him ready to play ball.

Meredith missed the 2017 season with an ACL tear and only played in six games last season as his injury issues persisted.
In 2016 with the Chicago Bears, Meredith caught 66 passes for 888 yards and four touchdowns. Meredith was originally signed by the Bears as an undrafted free agent in 2015 out of Illinois State.
Eagles sign Johnathan Cyprien
Free agent safety Johnathan Cyprien will join the Philadelphia Eagles on a one-year contract. He missed all of last season with a torn ACL. The Tennessee Titans cut him in March.

Cyprian began his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars as a second-round selection in the 2013 draft. He played four seasons with the Jags before leaving for the Titans in 2017. He started 10 games that season, recording 57 tackles, one sack and one pass defense.
