While it remains to be seen if Antonio Brown is truly done with playing in the NFL, he enrolled to be a college student on Monday.
Then, prior to Monday Night Football between the Washington Redskins and Chicago Bears; Randy Moss weighed on on Brown’s behavior on Monday Night Countdown.
Furthermore, it didn’t take long for Moss to get going about his former colleague Brown. At the :25 mark in the video above, Moss says the following.
“Him [Antonio Brown] saying he’s done, that’s him saying that. But what is the National Football League saying? I’ve been saying for the last couple months about him just shutting up and playing football. Now you’re at home tweeting on Sunday. That’s our day to go out there and do what we love to do.”
Certainly, Moss is astonished at the turn of events with Brown and his playing career. In a matter of weeks, he has threatened his general manager and faces sexual assault charges from a trainer. The New England Patriots cut him after just one game. Also, he’s no longer an active player according to himself.
By comparison, Moss was a sometimes troubled but talented player who managed a Hall of Fame career by avoiding these same pitfalls late. Remember, Moss also finished up his career with stops in Oakland and New England; similar to Brown. All of this has to be shocking for a former player like Moss.
He continued on his diatribe:
“Where is the accountability for his actions and everything leading up to it? As a player looking at another player of Antonio Brown’s caliber, it’s very frustrating to see everything that’s going on now. If I am speaking as one of his teammates, I’m glad he can’t be on the football field. We couldn’t come in on Sunday and focus as a teammate.”
Without question, Moss brings up a great point and offers an interesting perspective. Imagine being someone who was asked to play alongside the circus that is Antonio Brown in 2019. Simply, it would be difficult to maintain total focus on the task at hand. In a results business like the NFL, winning is so crucial.
Brown’s actions have been a major deterrent to any team attempting to do that. Props to Randy Moss for being willing to speak out on a peer here who he likely once respected.
