Players hanging it up before training camp begins
With the grind of summer practices on the horizon, veterans with injuries are making the call to wrap up their careers. Three players have decided to hang up their cleats, the biggest name being former Denver Broncos first round pick Robert Ayers. Ayers made the announcement on his Facebook page Tuesday.

Ayers spent his first five seasons with the Broncos, before a two-year stint with the New York Giants and two more with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He did not play in the league last season.
His best year was 2015 with the Giants when he recorded 41 tackles, 11 for a loss, nine sacks, two forced fumbles and four passes defended.
Joining Ayers in riding off into the sunset are Philadelphia Eagles special teamer Chris Margos and Denver Broncos wide receiver Aaron Burbridge. Margos didn’t play for the last two seasons after suffering a horrible knee injury in 2017 that’s required multiple surgeries to correct.

Burbridge was a sixth-round selection by the San Francisco 49ers in 2016. He made three starts as a rookie and played in all 15 games, but injuries cost him 2017 and he was on the 49ers practice squad for most of 2018. The Broncos signed him as a free agent this offseason.
