Trent Williams has asked for a trade or new contract all offseason and the Washington Redskins, to this point, have declined to do either. Now, the star offensive tackle is holding out. Williams’ issues with the team are not just his contract, but his anger at them over how they handled a serious medical issue he dealt with in the offseason.
#Redskins LT Trent Williams is not expected to report to training camp with the rest of his teammates this week, sources tell me and @RapSheet. He didn't show for minicamp in June and it could be quite a while before he's back with the team.

Williams, 31, had a tumor removed from his head back in April, that could have been malignant. Luckily for Williams, it wasn’t, but the offensive tackle felt that Redskins team doctors should have discovered the tumor before this past spring.
According to reports, Williams might not be completely out of the woods yet, as far as surgeries go. He could need additional work on his head before getting medically cleared to play. Williams has two years left on his current contract as is due to make $10.85 million this season and $12.5 million in 2020. He’s long since past any guaranteed money and that’s likely what he’s looking to change with a new deal.
When discussing with @MikeGarafolo the expectation that #Redskins LT Trent Williams holds out, it was also important to note that Williams must be cleared to play. And considering the seriousness of his medical scare (with subsequent scalp surgeries), that is not a given.

Washington drafted the seven-time Pro Bowl tackle No. 4 overall in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft out of Oklahoma.
Lions should have “Snacks” at camp
After threatening a hold out of his own, Detroit Lions defensive tackle Damon “Snacks” Harrison will report to camp. Harrison has been looking to redo his contract all offseason and skipped manditory minicamp. He’s due to make $6.75 million this season and $9 million next year with no guaranteed cash.
Just said on @nflnetwork: #Lions star DT Damon “Snacks” Harrison tells me “I’ll be there!” when veterans report to camp Wednesday. He and CB Darius Slay sat out minicamp for contract reasons. Doesn’t sound like any new deal yet, but Snacks – a bigtime team leader – plans to show.

The Lions acquired Harrison in a trade with the New York Giants last season at the trade deadline. He played in 16 games for both teams, recording 81 tackles, nine for a loss, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one pass defense and 3.5 sacks.
Harrison entered the league in 2012 as an undrafted free agent out of William Penn.
