If there was a mystery as to why the Los Angeles Rams weren’t even putting running back Todd Gurley on the plane to Hawaii, it was either solved or deepened Thursday when the team let it be known that not only is the star running back not making the trip to the Aloha State, but 20 other starters and key reserves won’t either.
That includes quarterback Jared Goff. For whatever reason, even though they won’t be playing, Aaron Donald and Marcus Peters will get to join the back ups in the 50th state.
Most of the #LARams starters will not make the trip to Hawaii ahead of the second preseason game against the Cowboys.

“Our consideration is always what we feel is in the best interest of the players,” head coach Sean McVay said. “For the most part, the guys that will not be participating in that game, to have them (not) make that travel, things of that nature, we feel is in the best interest of those guys.”
So get ready to see plenty of Blake Bortles, Brandon Allen and John Wolford tossing passes to Mike Thomas, KhaDarel Hodge and Austin Proehl.
INJURIES
Cody Kessler is now in the concussion protocol. The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback took a hard shot Thursday night against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Speaking of the Jaguars, running back Alfred Blue went down with an ankle injury in that same game.
Damontae Kazee went down with a rib injury and left the Atlanta Falcons game against the New York Jets. Cornerback Kendall Sheffield injured a hamstring and wideout Russell Gage hurt his hip.
The Jets didn’t escaped unscathed. Right tackle Brandon Shell left the field with a knee injury.
Linebacker Chris Board of the Baltimore Ravens is in the concussion protocol.
The Washington Redskins had a couple of guys get banged up. Linebacker Myles Humphrey went down, as did defensive tackle Tim Settle.
