NFL odds: The Dallas Cowboys opened as a +5500 choice to win Super Bowl XLIX and their status as a longshot is with good reason as they have not been anywhere near the level of a bona fide Super Bowl contender since the mid 1990’s as owner Jerry Jones constant meddling and refusal to relinquish the general manager’s role has proven to be a detriment to the franchise, at least on the gridiron.
The Cowboys had the worst defense in the NFL last year with an offense that was woefully inconsistent. There is little reason to expect much improvement as the one common denominator is Jones.

Dallas hosts the New York Giants on October 19 and the Washington Redskins on October 27 on ESPNMNF.

The Cowboys are at the Giants on November 23 on NBCSNF before hosting Philadelphia on November 27 (Thanksgiving). Dallas is at Chicago on December and at Philadelphia on December 14 on NBCSNF. Highlights
Despite wallowing in mediocrity for a generation the Cowboys still move the network needle and as a result get 3 NBC Sunday night dates with one ESPN Monday night matchup and of course the Thanksgiving Day matchup. Dallas is the epitome of an overlay “public” team that brings little in actual board value.
