NFL Picks: Colts and Giants Both Look to Rebound on Monday Night

NFL Picks:  Just when it looked like the Indianapolis Colts had fixed all of their flaws they got a massive reminder that nothing is for certain in the NFL after last week’s 51-34 loss at Pittsburgh.  The New York Giants have continued their sloppy and inconsistent ways since winning the Super Bowl against New England three years ago and remain a risky bet on the NFL board.

The Giants will host the Colts at MetLife Stadium on ESPN Monday Night Football with coverage starting at 8:30 PM ET.  The Colts opened as a three point favorite with a total of 51.

A Giant Disappointment

The Giants are 3-4 straight up and against the spread with a 4-3mark over the total.  The Giants are coming off a 31-21 loss at Dallas for their second consecutive defeat in a row.  New York has the metrics of a team that is as good as done as far as playoff aspirations.  The Giants rank 23rd for total offense and 27th for total defense.  On the positive, QB Eli Manning is having a bounceback season with a 96.8 QB rating and a 14-5 TD-INT ratio.

Luck Runs Out

The Colts are 5-3 SU, 6-2 ATS, and 6-2 over the total.  The Colts fell behind 35-10 in their loss at Pittsburgh and QB Andrew Luck threw two interceptions including a pick six.  The Colts still have the NFL’s top ranked offense and rank 15th for total defense.

Matchup and Pick

Indianapolis has been a decent road betting value and have paid out in 12 out of their last 19 road games.  The Colts have gone over the total in eight out of their last nine away games.

The Giants have slipped as a betting value at home with six losses against the spread in their last 11 home games.  The Giants have gone under the total in six out of their last nine home games.

The Colts have covered the spread in three out of their last four games against the Giants with three out of those four games going over the total.  The Colts have won and covered their last two away games against the Giants with two out of the last three games between the Giants and Colts at New York going over the total.  We’ll call for the Colts (-3) and over the total.
