NFL Picks: The Dallas Cowboys have been something of a pleasant surprise so far and are coming off a dramatic 34-31 win at St. Louis after rallying from a 21-0 deficit. Now the question is whether or not that payout will serve as a springboard to greater success or was it just a one hit wonder against a bad Rams team. The New Orleans Saints are off to a shaky start and have seen significant regression on defense after showing marked improvement last year.
The Dallas Cowboys will host the New Orleans Saints at AT&T Stadium on Sunday night with coverage on NBC starting at 8:30 PM ET. New Orleans opened as a 3-point road favorite with a total of 53.5. Please check BetDSI for the latest NFL lines.
Hex on Rex
The Saints made the playoffs last year based in large part on a defense that made incredible strides under defensive coordinator Rex Ryan. So far this year however the defense has slipped to a ranking of 24th overall in the NFL as New Orleans is 1-2 straight up, 1-2 against the spread, and 2-1 over the total. The Saints are coming off a 20-9 home payout against Minnesota.
Sun Shines in Jerry’s World
Dallas is 2-1 both SU and ATS with a 1-2 mark under the total. Dallas has seen marked improvement on rush offense ranking third overall as DeMarco Murray leads the team with 385 yards and 5.1 yards per carry. Quarterback Tony Romo remains erratic with a 4-4 TD-INT ratio and no deep threat to throw too.
Matchup and Pick
The Saints have been a terrible road board value as of late with just two payouts in their last 10 away games as just six out of their last 17 road games have gone over the total. Dallas has not been much better as a home team with just six payouts in their last 20 games at Jerry’s World as four out of their last six home games have gone under the total. New Orleans has dominated their head-to-head series with Dallas as the Saints have come away with the cash in eight out of their last 10 games with the Cowboys with four of the last five meetings in this series going over the total. It’s always dangerous to buy in to the Cowboys so we’ll ride the Saints (-3) and over the total of 53.5.
