NFL Picks: Eagles host Giants on Sunday night

NFL Picks:  Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly has shut up the skeptics as his offense has proven to be highly effective for NFL success but his defense has been a drag on their betting value and a threat to their championship aspirations.  The New York Giants have shown solid improvement over the past three weeks as QB Eli Manning has cut down dramatically on costly mistakes but the defense remains a worry.

The Eagles will host the Giants at Lincoln Financial Field on NBC Sunday Night Football with coverage starting at 8:30 PM ET.  The Eagles opened as a three point favorite with a total of 50.

A Giant Resurgence?

The Giants are 3-2 both straight up and against the spread with a 3-2 mark over the total. Big Blue has won and covered their last three games and ranks eight for scoring offense.  New York is coming off a 30-20 home payout over Atlanta.  The Giants defense remains a potential liability as it ranks 18th overall in the NFL.

Flying with one Wing

The Eagles are 4-1 SU, 3-2 ATS, and 4-1 over the total.  Philadelphia ranks second in the NFL for scoring offense but 28th for overall defense and 25th for scoring defense.  QB Nick Foles has dropped dramatically from last year with a rather ordinary 82.6 QB rating and 8-5 TD-INT ratio.

Matchup and Pick
The Giants have shown improved betting value on the road as of late with five payouts in their last seven away games as just six out of their last 20 away games have gone over the total.  The Eagles have been a good betting value at home however with just two losses against the spread in their last seven games at Lincoln Financial Field with six out of their last 10 home games going under the total.  Philadelphia has come away with the cash in nine out of their last 12 games with the Giants as four out of the last six meetings between the Giants and Eagles have gone under the total.

The Eagles have paid out in three out of their last five home games with the G-Men as the last four meetings between the Giants and Eagles at Philadelphia have gone under the total.  We’ll call for the Eagles and under in this NFC East Division showdown.
