NFL Picks: Giants Host Cowboys on Sunday Night Football

NFL Picks: A catastrophic fall from glory has put the New York Giants, head coach Tom Coughlin, and QB Eli Manning in a ditch that they are unlikely to escape from.

The resurgent Dallas Cowboys have surprised everyone with solid play and profits at the cashier’s cage after back to back seasons of failure and red ink.

The New York Giants will host the Dallas Cowboys at MetLife Stadium on NBC Sunday Night Football with coverage starting at 8:30 PM ET. Dallas opened as a three point favorite with a total of 47.

Big Blues

The Giants are 3-7 both straight up and against the spread and 6-4 over the total. The G Men rank 31st in the NFL for total defense and 26th for scoring defense. New York is coming off a 16-10 home loss to San Francisco as QB Eli Manning threw five interceptions in a slip back into his bad habits of the past two seasons. New York ranks 21st in the NFL for scoring offense.

How ‘Bout them Cowboys

Dallas is 7-3 SU, 6-4 ATS, and 5-4-1 over the total. The Cowboys stopped a two-game losing streak last week with a 31-17 payout against Jacksonville. The Cowboys rank sixth in the NFL for total offense and 10th for scoring defense. The vastly improved defense is the catalyst for the Cowboys resurgence.

Matchup and Pick

Dallas has been a solid road betting value lately with 13 payouts in their last 20 away games. The Cowboys have gone over the total in seven out of their last nine road match-ups.

The Giants have seen their betting value erode at MetLife Stadium recently with just five payouts in their last 12 home games. Big Blue has gone under the total in four out of their last six home games.

Dallas has won and come away with the money in their last three meetings with the G Men with nine out of the last 11 meetings between the Cowboys and Giants going over the total. Dallas has paid out in their last two visits to MetLife Stadium against the Giants with nine out of the last 13 meetings at New York between the Giants and Cowboys going over the total. The Cowboys scored a 31-21 home payout against the Giants on October 19 of this season.

It has been an ugly look by the Giants this year and unlike past seasons there is nothing that points to one of their patented late season rallies. We like Dallas and over the total.
